Our Story

With the emphasis that Islam places on education and excellence, it is no surprise that Muslim boys have found success through the KEVI schools. As our community grows in number and influence, so too has the alumni community.

The OEMN journey started on 29th September 2017, when a group of KES alumni came across a message about a school iftar. In the hope of rekindling their connection to the school and old boys, they went along but found themselves wanting.
Somehow, through the passage of time, this once sought after tradition had become lost and no longer kept boys connected to their school. In attempt to restart it again, they created a WhatsApp group under the banner of the Old Edwardians Muslim Network (OEMN) and began the process of reconnection with KES alumni through word of mouth.
Over the years the numbers slowly grew and in 2024 interest began to rise from the alumni from the other KEVI foundation schools. Seeing as our mission and heritage was the same, we extended the group to include all Muslim alumni from all KEVI Foundations schools, namely KE Camp Hill, KE Five Ways, KE Aston and KE Handsworth, into one OEMN for the benefit of all.

The Vision

1. The Intra Network

To facilitate networking and support through mentoring / advice between members of the OEMN.

2. The Inter Network

To facillitate networking and support to students and the wider community by members of the OEMN.

3. The Formation of a Trust

To use our collective energy towards charitable projects.

OEMN Aims

As we work towards the vision, our immediate aims are;
  • To connect and foster unity amongst Muslim alumni of the King Edward VI Schools in Birmingham.
  • To promote networking activities, mutual support, and the spirit of brotherhood among members.
  • To encourage members to uphold values of integrity, service, and excellence inspired by Islamic principles.
